The Mensing House was named after the original owner.
There are documents that prove that it was built in 1573.
A barber worked here for a long time. That is the old job title for a hairdresser.
The lovingly restored and decorated half-timbering and the location in the heart of Lauenburg's old town make the house a popular photo subject. This was also the case at the turn of the century, when the Elbe flood reached its highest level that has been documented to date. There are also photos from this time. Today there is an ice cream parlor here, which provides a popular way to cool off while sightseeing in the summer months.

The old town of Lauenburg is definitely worth seeing, but the rest of the town is rather unspectacular.
The Mensing House in particular is a very pretty ensemble in summer.

Down by the Elbe there is a nice cafe with a view of the river.

If you want to get some exercise, you can take the path along the Elbe towards the west and hike through the nature reserve.
