As part of the anniversary celebration "25 years of the Pro Argovia Cultural Foundation"
In 1977 the desire arose to become the geographical center of Aargau
determine. Students from the HTL Brugg-Windisch were assigned the center
of the canton, whose outline points consist of several thousand boundary stones
exist to calculate. The theoretically exact calculation of the center would have consisted in finding the coordinates of the individual boundary stones
to evaluate, which at that time still procured individually from each municipality
had to be. Due to time constraints, the students concentrated
therefore on the evaluation of around 400 to 500 outline points from the
Maps of the national topography. As a result of a complex math problem, the school's internal computer system finally spat out the
coordinate 654.217/251.240.
On the occasion of the anniversary "175 years of Canton Aargau" designed then
the Niederlenzer local citizens in 1978 the center of the Aargau
meeting place. In the center of the complex is a boulder from the region
Göschenen, which was found in the Niederlenz gravel works. All around that
In the center are eleven benches made of Jura limestone. The notches in the bench seats
give the exact directions to the eleven district capitals.
