In 1691 Johann Lemmel, then electoral war paymaster, had a Dutch mill built from the red and white sandstone found in the area. This windmill was the only one in operation in the Eastern Ore Mountains for 200 years. The mill was last in operation as a sideline in 1990. Today it is a technical monument. There is also a stop at the miller's inn.

The Possendorfer Mühle is one of only seven Dutch tower windmills in the region. The Possendorf mill was built in 1691 by the electoral war purser Johann Lämmel from Possendorf sandstone. Lämmel was in the service of August the Strong. In 1920, propulsion was switched to engine power after a storm destroyed the wings. After the Second World War, the mill was rebuilt using rubble from Dresden and steel girders from railway carriages. She got a pneumatic drive. The Thümmels bought the mill in 1998 from the last miller, Herbert Scholz junior. His father, Herbert Scholz senior, was a master miller and mill engineer. The mill has been extensively renovated since 2004.
