The Retranchementse mill is a grist and peeling mill. The standard mill dates from 1818. Before that, there was also a mill on the same site. It was built in 1643, but was blown over. The current mill was therefore rebuilt using old parts.
In 1944 the mill had a hard time and suffered heavy war damage during Canadian bombings. Complete restoration was completed in 1982 - 1983.

The mill can be visited on Wednesdays and Saturdays during the summer months, otherwise by appointment.

Next to the mill is a small building (the 'Molen Information Center') where you will find a lot of information about the history of the mill and the rest of the heritage (and history) of Retranchement.
