Craster Haven has been a vital spot for fishermen throughout history, relying on the natural protection of Little Carr and Muckle Carr rocks. In 1906, the Craster family constructed the present-day harbour to honour Captain John Craster, who was lost in the Tibetan campaign. The sturdy walls of the north and south piers enclose the harbour, providing a tranquil setting for leisurely moments on sunny days. However, during storms, the harbour takes on a more thrilling atmosphere. Fishing boats are typically hauled out of the water using a capstan or a diesel engine, with logs facilitating the process. At the end of the south pier, the remnants of three wooden towers puzzle visitors, once serving as storage for crushed limestone transported from a nearby quarry
