Covão dos Conchos is one of those places that seems to have come from a parallel universe. At first glance, it is a mysterious hole in the middle of the lake, a funnel that seems to swallow the waters in mesmerizing silence. But this phenomenon is not the work of nature, but rather of human engineering: it is a tunnel built in the 1950s to divert the waters of Ribeira das Naves to Lagoa Comprida, the largest reservoir in Serra da Estrela, where it supplies hydroelectric power.

Totally overrated in my opinion. Of course, it looks very impressive in pictures……… but in reality it is much smaller and very unspectacular. The water doesn't exactly invite you to swim. Actually not worth the effort.
