The Kollegienhaus in Göttingen is part of a building complex together with the old university library and the monastery church of St. Peter and Paul. It is a baroque plaster construction with stone inlay.

1734-1737 built by Joseph Schaedeler using wall parts of the former Dominican monastery as lecture hall and library building

1944 destruction by air raid

1945-1955 reconstruction

Three sculptures can be found in front of the entrance portal in the courtyard: a sculpture by Günter Grass "Butt in the Grip", a seated Lichtenberg sculpture and a low pillar reminiscent of the first electromagnetical communication of 1833.

Founded in 1734 and today one of the largest libraries in Germany.

In the old building it houses valuable manuscripts and rare prints.

The Lichtenberg monument by Prof. Volker Neuhoff (1992) and the sculpture "Butt im Griff" by Günter Grass (2004) are located in the academy courtyard.
