Absolutely worth seeing in Colmar is the Unterlinden Museum (French: Musée Unterlinden), a collection of international renown, in particular through its most important exhibit, the world-famous Isenheim altar by Matthias Grünewald (created at the beginning of the 16th century). The collection of paintings and sculptures from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance is also considered outstanding. a. with works by Martin Schongauer, whose master Caspar Isenmann, Cranach the Elder and Holbein the Elder.
The museum uses the buildings of the former Dominican nunnery Unter den Linden, which was built in the first half of the 13th century.

The Koifhus (Ancienne Douane - Old Customs Office) had a strategic position due to the confluence of the Grand'Rue and the Rue des Marchands, two of the main thoroughfares within the medieval city.
Planned since 1433, the building was completed in 1480. Two of the adjacent houses were added during the 16th century.
