The Aurich castle district has been the seat of the respective administrators or rulers for centuries. In the 14th century, the chieftain's castle of the tom Brok family was built there, followed in the 15th century by the Averborg of the Cirksena noble family. The Aurich Castle, which still exists today (in very good condition), and the main guardhouse were then built in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today you can visit the tower of the castle.
