                  It's impressive what the regular flooding from the Atlantic Ocean can do to grow here, on this rather barren island. Rare bird species nest in the salt marshes and plants that feed exclusively on salt water can bloom here.
                  The salt marshes extend across the entire Playa del Matorral.
