Lüder von Bentheim, the creator of the Bremen town hall, built the estate - also in the Weser Renaissance style. He did this for the Archbishop of Bremen, Johann Friedrich von Holstein-Gottorf, who needed this modest home for his lover Gertrud von Hermeling-Heimbruch. The love story came to a tragic end, but the castle has been preserved to this day after various turmoil and is well worth seeing. You should also have a look at the arboretum of trees right next to it.

The ancestral farm. This was built from 1619 by the Archbishop of Bremen for his Gspusi, which unfortunately did not survive: She died during the construction work. Nevertheless, the work was completed - and even as a representative building larger than originally planned - and today it is a very worth seeing pearl of the Weser Renaissance.
