Scallops are fished in the Bay of the Seine and sea fish off the coast of South West England. In the hall of the fish auction, 10,000 tons of fish are traded every year.

The small town of Port-en-Bessin-Huppain is located about forty kilometers from Caen, on the banks of the Sea Canal. It is located in the heart of the country of Bessin. Inhabited since protohistory, as evidenced by some remains found there, the territory of Port-en-Bessin-Huppain and has developed over the centuries with its maritime activities. Classified as a refuge in the nineteenth century, the town later became Normandy's first fishing port, with the establishment of a fish market in the 1970s. Today, with the charm of the coast and its architectural heritage, the town continues to attract visitors and tourists.
