Wonderfully meandering path along a large meadow landscape and a smaller lake, which the Cloppenburgers call the "Surfsee" - although it is no longer surfed, but mainly fished. Partly from human anglers, partly from an increasing population of cormorants. If the lake is frozen, ice bathers - mostly of Russian origin - like to draw attention to their supposed hardness in the local press.
As if I had guessed it as a highlight when it was created: February 2018 it was announced that since December 2017 the council had received an application from an "investor from Vechta", as it is always called when something ugly comes up (see the construction of the somewhat half-silver Genos GmbH der Soeste) is on the desks, who would like to set up a gastronomic facility in a "boathouse" that is still to be built at the southern end of the lake. In addition, the investor is planning a water ski facility and later on he would like to build a hotel on the lake. It remains to be seen how this request will be perceived by the neighboring meadow and water birds. I don't hear her trilling with joy.
In summer, there are always shady spots on the shore around the lake that allow some privacy as long as no anglers take advantage of these bays. Really nice there - and so close to the center.
