The young lawyer Johann Wolfgang Goethe, who much preferred writing rather than the dry matters of the legal system, was reminded by this suicide of his love in Wetzlar, which also ended unfortunately. That's why he was inspired to write the epistolary novel "The Sorrows of Young Werther". The worldwide success of this novel, published in 1774, led Goethe to finally give up trying to become a lawyer.
