Great hiking area. The Plettenberg offers everything. From almost high alpine climbs, over juniper heaths, as well as many benches with a great view. Not to forget the quarry and the radio tower.

Fantastic views over the Swabian Alb and on!
The quarry on the plateau of the mountain is interesting, but unfortunately also a huge intervention in the sensitive nature up there and therefore very controversial.
The cultivated limestone gravel is transported in gondola gondolas directly into the ballast in the valley.

Striking table mountain, one third of which is taken up by a quarry. Great view from the cross into the valley, beautiful natural paths on the plateau around the radio tower and a fantastic eaves on the opposite side. A real piece of the Swabian Alb.

The Plettenberg (local dialect form: the Bloachta or the Plaikten) is a 1001.7 m above sea level. NHN high, striking mountain on the western edge of the Swabian Alb. It is one of the mountains that protrude furthest out of the low mountain range; the 158 meter high telecommunications tower built on top of it can be clearly seen from a great distance. Along with the Lochen (964 m above sea level) and the Schafberg (999 m above sea level), the Plettenberg is one of the so-called Balingen mountains, of which it is the highest. As the tenth highest mountain in the Swabian Alb and the Großer Heuberg, the Plettenberg does not belong to the region of 10,000 m, although this region is organically connected. It is considered one of the main attractions of the local recreation area "Oberes Schlichemtal".
Limestone has been quarried on the high plateau of the Plettenberg for decades and transported with the Dotternhausen-Plettenberg material cable car to the valley station of the cement works near Dotternhausen, which is several hundred meters below.
