                      The bridge is part of a hidden tunnel approximately 1 km long. It allowed members of the Medici family to move freely and safely between their palaces without having to go out into the streets and mingle with crowds.

                      This section of the passage on the Ponte Vecchio is unique in that it runs above the goldsmiths' shops and, at one point, wraps around the Manelli Tower. Its windows offer views of the Arno River.

                      Currently, the Vasari Corridor is open to the public, but reservations are required. It houses part of the Uffizi Gallery's collection of self-portraits.

                              The oldest and most beautiful bridge over the Arno is the Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge), which is now one of the symbols of Florence. It was completed in 1345 after ten years of construction. Its total length is 84 m, and its widest point is 30 m. On the bridge there are small shops lined up one after the other, with entrances facing the middle of the bridge. Only in the middle of the bridge do three arcade arches give passers-by a view of the Arno.
