Probably the most recognizable caldera of Gran Canaria. Here the volcanic past is still almost noticeable. At the top of the entrance there are descriptive information boards about the origin. It is worth the way to the bottom of the caldera. About half of the descent comes a great viewing platform. At the very bottom of the caldera are still old ruins, which are currently being rebuilt. It is also worth paying attention to the caldera at the top of the crater rim on the narrow path. Great views of the caldera. At first the way looks worse than it actually is and is predominantly easy to walk on. Only at about two places it is a bit arduous, as it goes on slippery ground (loose lava granules) quite steeply uphill.

Walking around the crater rim is worthwhile, as is descending to the bottom of the crater. It is worth going down early in the morning. Then you might even be completely alone in the crater. Later in the evening, in midsummer, it can get very hot in the crater. The entrance gate to the crater is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The climb to the Pico (mostly on the asphalt road) is, in my opinion, far less worthwhile.
