Vannes is one of those Breton towns which, having no strategic value during the Second World War, was not bombed. The cities of Lorient and Brest, on the other hand, were largely destroyed. As a result, Vannes has kept all its rich and varied architecture.
The marina is located at the gates of the old town, which is accessed via the Saint-Vincent gate. The Château de l'Hermine, incorporated into the city walls, was one of the residences of the Dukes of Brittany.
