Timmendorf Forest Church
With increasing visitor numbers, the first Protestant services were held around 1900, initially in the open air in the forest.
In 1912, a forest chapel was built on this site.
The Ratekau parish looked after the small church, but in 1946, the Timmendorfer Strand parish gained its independence.
The chapel was converted into a forest church between 1963 and 1964 and expanded again in 1982.
The Lutheran services, with their interesting sermon series and rich accompaniment of church music, are well attended and resonate well beyond the town of Timmendorfer Strand.

The former forest chapel of 1912, of which today still bears the same street name, was rebuilt in 1964 as a forest church and belongs to the Ev. Luth. Parish. Where the Timmendorfer forest chapel was built in 1912, on the edge of a hill on an old reef under tall deciduous trees, only about 200 m from the Baltic Sea beach, forest services had already been held in the summer for about 20 years. The place grew, the guests came. The chapel was converted into a forest church in 1964 and expanded again in 1982.
