Monks used to live in the monastery of St. John, but during the Reformation the dissolution was in full swing. If you read the history of the city, the monastery then served as a poorhouse. In the 17th century, monks lived in the monastery again for a short time and the building continued to be used as a poorhouse. Today the half-timbered building serves many cultural institutions.
