From Pidurangala Rock you have a sensational view of the famous Sigiriya. The ascent to the 200m high mountain is short but at the end connected with some climbing. For experienced certainly no problem. The climb costs only 500RS per person.
A great alternative for those who find the 30USD expensive Sigiriya too expensive. Or for those who have extra power for a second ascent!

From the top of the Pidurangala rock you have on one side a magnificent view of the Sigiriya rock, which is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. On the other side, the view sweeps over huge forest areas all the way to the Minneriya Reservoir. The climb starts at the temple below and there is also required the entry of 500 LKR. The best time to climb is before sunrise or sunset. In the twilight good slip resistance is required and sturdy footwear. There is a stepped path that becomes a climbing path just before the summit.
