                                      The Breakfast Pavilion in Aschaffenburg Palace Park, also known as the "Breakfast Temple," is an elegant gem of neoclassical architecture with a picturesque location high above the Main River.

                                      🕰️ Origin & History
                                      Built in 1782 by Emanuel Joseph von Herigoyen, the court architect of the Electorate of Mainz.

                                      The pavilion stands on the so-called "Gray Stone," a steep cliff on the banks of the Main River.

                                      Originally, there was a city tower there, later a chapel dedicated to St. Rochus, which was demolished in 1748.

                                      🏗️ Architecture & Style
                                      The pavilion is a neoclassical domed structure, inspired by Robert Morris's "Architectural Remembrancer" (1751).

                                      Notable features include:

                                      Ionic columns and round-arched French doors with pediments.

                                      A rectangular porch on the north side serves as the main entrance.

                                      Coat of arms of Friedrich Carl Joseph von Erthal in the pediments, framed by festoons in the Louis XVI style.

                                      Interior:

                                      White stucco on a colored background.

                                      Mirrors between the windows.

                                      The dome is decorated with arabesques and friezes.

                                      🌿 Significance in the palace garden
                                      Part of the landscaping concept of Elector Erthal, who transformed the old city fortifications into a Mediterranean-style park.

                                      The pavilion offers a sweeping view over the Main River and was deliberately built in a prominent location.
