You follow a winding summer road up from Fortun, and then—there it is: Nørdstedalseter, a friendly staffed cabin right at the top of Fortunsdalen. It’s a cozy hub between Breheimen and Jotunheimen, with around 40 beds and a real mountain hut atmosphere.
In summer, you can drive right up; in winter, it’s ski tracks all the way . Inside, there’s a wood stove, electricity, showers, and meals served—breakfast, dinner, even local lamb or deer dishes if you're here in season.
The trails around are stunning—think glaciers, lush valleys, and high peaks. It's the kind of place where you drop in, warm up with a hot meal, refill your water, and make plans for the next day's adventure.
