The ridge on the Hangetal was created by backfilling and was later planted with trees. From here the view opens over the bridge of Herzogstrasse to the Essen city center. The Evonik building complex stands out in the south. The town hall can be seen in the center, behind it the television tower.

Further north is the bell tower of the Kreuzeskirche. It was built in 1896 and destroyed in an air raid during World War II. Its reconstruction was completed in 1953.
