The support center 'Fledermaus' in the dunes of Klein-Valkenisse formed the first link of the Landfront Vlissingen and is named after an operetta by Johan Strausjr. The position was able to cover the dragon's teeth barrier at the foot of the dune with fire. The barrier was made up of several rows of concrete pyramids and was intended to stop Allied tanks.
