Historic public water pumping station built in 1707 and restored in 2003. It is one of the oldest working polder mills in the Amsterdam area. The Gaaspermolen houses the community polder pumping station. A pumping station ensures that the water in a polder stays at the right level. It carries the water from the ditches to the polder outlet, in this case the Gaasp. The pumping station in the Gaaspermolen is powered by wind or electricity. Source: gaaspermolen.nl
