The moor with all its facets is worth a visit in any season for nature lovers. But when many thousands of cranes stop here in the south for a short time in the autumn, to strengthen themselves for the onward flight on the corn fields, then this is the highlight of the year for me.

Although I was not able to spot any cranes, the route is easy to drive, especially if you are coming straight from the bumpy bumpy roads.

A really golden October day, perfect for a spontaneous bike tour. Nature has become quieter, the leaves rustle under the wheels, the acorns crack, the light is gentle and soft - and the cranes are back (and in the middle a stork that seems to be spending the winter in our climes )! The autumn shows its most beautiful side.
