The rescue of Julen Roselló was a set of operations to carry out the recovery of Julen Roselló, a two-year-old boy who fell through a prospecting well in the Spanish town of Totalán, in the province of Malaga (Spain) , on January 13, 2019. The illegally dug well was 71 meters deep1 and had a diameter of 25 centimeters.
To carry out the rescue, a larger diameter parallel conduit had to be drilled, in an operation in which more than 300 people and numerous heavy machinery were involved.3
The operation received international media coverage.
After various setbacks during the drilling, on January 26 at 1:25 in the morning, Julen's lifeless body was found between two layers of earth.
