At this place, the eponymous church is a highlight.
Right next to it is the entrance to Hospital San Giovanni and Paolo. Only the entrance area is worth seeing.

A little more secluded, a little away from the hustle and bustle. Very impressive, historic building that is worth a visit. The Basilica of Saints John and Paul (Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo), often referred to as "San Zanipolo", is one of the largest and most important churches in Venice. It is located in the Castello district and is considered one of the most important religious landmarks in the city.

Construction of the basilica began in 1246 and is dedicated to the Dominican Order. It was built on land donated to the order by the Morosini family. Construction was completed in 1430, giving the church its Gothic appearance. From the 15th century onwards, the basilica served as a burial place for the Doges of Venice, which is why it is often referred to as the "Pantheon of Venice".

Northeast of Venice city center - in the Sestiere Castello - is the city's second most important church after San Marco. The Basilica of Santi Giovanni e Paolo is a truly monumental church building. Its construction began in the 13th century and lasted about two hundred years. The Doges of Venice were buried in this church from the 15th century and some noble families also chose this place as their final resting place. The construction of the church and its magnificent structure in the ogival style (Gothic) began in 1246, after around 1245 the Doge Jacopo Tiepolo gave the Dominican order a piece of land for the construction of a church. Jacopo Tiepolo reigned from 1229 to 1249.

at Zanipolo is a Dominican monastery church. It is the largest and most important sacred building of the Venetian Gothic of the 14th and 15th centuries. The church was the preferred grave church of the Doges and numerous noble families. Church patrons are not the two apostles of the same name, but John and Paul of Rome, two martyrs from the time of Constantine the Great. “Zanipolo” is a contraction of the Venetian name forms of “Johannes” and “Paulus”.

Zanipolo was the preferred burial place of the Venetian Doges. In addition to many other funerary monuments of Venetian nobili, there are 26 doge tombs from the Gothic to the Baroque era. The Dominican patron Jacopo Tiepolo was the first doge to be buried there in 1249. His simple marble burial place is on the outer facade wall.

So much old stones and science from several centuries, as well as splendor and glory of the Catholic. Church in a small space leaves speechless. €3.50 for the basilica and €5 for the scuola are almost too little for these houses.
