Bielsk Podlaski - a city in Poland, in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, the seat of the Bielsko poviat and the rural commune of Bielsk Podlaski.
The city on the Jagiellonian route connected Vilnius with Krakow.
In 1929, it had 5,567 inhabitants. The seat of the poviat police headquarters, tax and fees tax office, the Tax Office, poviat road management board, poviat land office, school inspectorate, poviat department. There were two Catholic churches of the Latin rite, two Greek Catholic churches, several Orthodox churches and a synagogue. There was a gymnasium, teacher training and trade courses. There was a district hospital here. There were: a branch of the Union of Jewish Merchants, a branch of the Union of Polish Merchants, the Union of Landowners, the Regional Agricultural Society, the Association of Beekeepers, the Union of Craftsmen, and the Union of Butchers. There was a power plant.
