In 1943, a military base was installed by General Erwin Rommel, in charge of the defense of the Atlantic Wall on the Northwest. He transformed the beach into a vast construction site: minefield, construction of blockhouses, IEDs. in August 1944, following the landing of the Allied forces in Normandy, the German troops were ordered to withdraw. they take the time to dynamite the lighthouses, destroy their installations and devastate the Hameau du Hourdel.

Already in 1840 a light beacon was built on this site. In 1852 this was placed on a 10 meter high wooden base. In 1905 a new lighthouse was built on a metal column 10.2 meters high. It was destroyed by war in 1944.
In 1950 a new lighthouse was completed, made of reinforced concrete and 18 meters high. A space was built next to it in which services were established
