After breakfast on the already sun-drenched terrace of the Halleranger Alm, we say goodbye to this gem and make our way over the Lafatscherjoch and the Wildebande-Steig towards the Stempeljoch.
The Wildebande-Steig is also interrupted by some snow fields. Here, too, surefootedness is required, as slipping in this area would end in an ugly way. The last big hurdle then waits at the transition to the Stempeljoch. A fairly massive snowfield has to be crossed in the steep terrain. Apart from a few footsteps, there is no grooming, so we cautiously go through the passages with groom and sticks. Once in the gravel field, the path (if you can still call it that) up to the Stempeljoch becomes a real challenge. The last paved roads have probably fallen victim to the winter and every step has to be carefully considered. In the last third, a field of residual snow had to be avoided before we could start the easy descent to the Pfeishütte via the saddle (UPDATE: the Stempeljoch Steig was radically renovated in the summer of 2021 and is now again in an accurate condition). Arrived there around 2 p.m., we were able to enjoy the sunny afternoon with food and drink on the terrace!
