The crystal-clear Alme springs out of nowhere in the Mühlental from 104 springs. It bubbles, gurgles and bubbles. A lively brook quickly grows out of it, which accumulates in a pond. A natural rarity, the miracle of childbirth.
Brilon, Olsberg and the Sauerland hiking villages have set about creating small escapes from everyday life for hikers and those seeking peace and quiet. The “Sauerland Soul Places” project deals with the topics of mindfulness and inner contemplation. Eleven towns in the Sauerland, for which hiking is particularly important, have joined forces to form the first certified "Quality Region Wanderbares Deutschland", including Olsberg and Brilon. In 2019, a total of 43 “places of the soul” were selected together with the team from the “Paths to Life” network, seven of them around Brilon and Olsberg. The soul places touch people, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, they inspire. Each place of the soul has its own story, but they all have one theme in common: living stillness.
