The old border fortification from 1263 is in the Finstermünz Gorge. The sight of the bridge over the Inn and the fortress buildings on the steep river bank is fascinating from afar.

The border fortress can be visited from May to October. It is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Admission costs 8 euros for adults.

Altfinstermünz is a medieval court and fortification on the Via Claudia Augusta in the same name Finstermünzschlucht. The festival is located in the municipality of Nauders at the foot of the Finstermünzpasses, where the used until 1854 old road from the Reschenpass in the direction of Pfunds and Landeck the Inn, which here forms the border between Tyrol (Austria) and Graubünden (Switzerland). The former border and customs station is located in a very impressive gorge. Here you can still get a good idea of the history of how travelers had to pay tolls in the 13th century.
A lovely place to take a break - the Klausenschenke is perfect for this.
Closed on Mondays - otherwise open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
