The Polish combat bunker, commonly known as "Sowiniec", is part of the bunkers of the "Śląsk" Fortified Area.
It is a medium-sized facility with two heavy Browning wz. 30 caliber 7.92 mm.
Works on the shelter were carried out as part of the construction of the "Mikołów" section. Before the start of World War II, the facility was not completed.
On the initiative of the Association for the Monuments of Fortifications "Pro Fortalicium", the facility was reconstructed in terms of equipment and armaments, to the hypothetical state of the 1939 period. In the bunker there is an exhibition devoted to the "Battle of Wyrska", which took place, among others in the vicinity of the "Sowiniec" bunker, on September 1-3, 1939.
In the area of the bunker and the Monument to the Remembrance of the Soldiers of September 1939, battle reenactments have been organized in May in May, presenting the positions of Historical Reconstruction Groups as well as the equipment and training of the contemporary Polish Army.
Visiting the shelter inside is possible on every second and fourth Sunday of the month, starting from May until September, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
