Since 1860, the buildings have been used as a monastery of the Franciscan sisters of Sießen.
Between 1935 and 1938, the Nazi regime ordered the closure of the monastery and the expulsion of the nuns. From 1940 to 1945, the monastery was "confiscated by order of the Volksdeutsche Mittelstelle [...], along with the agricultural land and all living and dead inventory for the accommodation of Germans abroad."
Today (as of Nov. 2022), around 70 Franciscan sisters live in the mother house of Sießen Monastery.
