The Müritz is a lake within the Mecklenburg Lake District in the Mecklenburg Lake District, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is the largest lake located entirely within Germany.
The Müritz National Park, established in 1990, is located in southern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is the largest land-based national park in Germany. The park extends across the two geographically separate areas of the Mecklenburg Lake District and part of the Feldberg Lake District.
With more than 21,000 inhabitants, Waren is a medium-sized town and spa resort. It is the seat of the Waren Lake District District, which includes twelve municipalities.

Beer was brewed here from the 16th century. After a violent dispute with Wittstock, Röberl enforced a ban on the sale of "Wisker" beer in Mecklenburg. Beer was brewed here until 1907.
