The Mohre Mill

There are only a few remains of the Mohre Mühle, which stood at this point and burned down in 1901. Some wall remains on this side of the stream and the remains of a small chapel on the other side of the stream are still clearly visible. The mill moat, which is still visible, has a remarkable shape. In the upper inlet it is open as usual. The Bernardsmühle stood here over 200 years ago. In 1755 a miller Schumacher von Hilgenroth from the Westerwald lived there. He was followed by the millers Reiff, Habich, Schopp, Mohr and Christ from Gödenroth as the last Mohre miller. After the mill had burned down, the miller's family moved to Mastershausen. The remains of the wall were later removed and the area used as a meadow. Source: Text information board
