    The Sahara is a unique nature reserve in Belgium of about 200 ha.
    The bare, desert-like sandy soil is a result of industrial activities and silting up due to the withering vegetation.
    From the moment you take one step on the beach you know where the name 'Sahara' comes from.
    Enjoy exploring the rough sand barefoot.
    However, swimming is prohibited because there may be cold spots in the body of water.
    Laughing is allowed…

        Water belongs to a beach and water belongs to water fun. Unfortunately, that is not the case in the Sahara. The water is not suitable for swimming and floating on the lake with a boat and even paddling is not allowed. This ban on swimming and bathing is partly due to the obstacles associated with the waters here and in some places also to the ecologically important riparian zones.         In addition, as you can see in the photos, the prohibition signs state that there is blue-green algae in the water. You are therefore asked to avoid contact with water. And that also applies to dogs according to the prohibition signs.
