The 221 m high Kirchberg is considered the local mountain of the Bensheimers. With the “Kirchberghäuschen” built in 1857 on the summit, it is a popular excursion destination with a beer garden and also the city's landmark.
Below the summit are two of the best vineyards on the Hessian Bergstrasse on the southern slope. The building was originally built as a pleasure house for high society in Bensheim, a place for parties, receptions and social events.
You shouldn't underestimate the steep incline by bike, but the ascent to the Kirchberg summit is definitely worth it ...
From up here you have a breathtaking panoramic view of Bensheim, the Bergstrasse and the vastness of the Hessian Ried. When the sky is clear, the view extends as far as the Palatinate Forest and the Mannheim metropolis… .🚴♂️
