In addition to the former access to the mine site, a large leadership role and a mining gate reminds of the old Mariaglück potash mine. A very nice driveway picture of the old days and various interesting information boards give an insight into the former mine life. An additional table with 2 benches under shady trees allows you to take a break here.

At some point the whole area should be released again, well then 'Glück Auf' ⚒️

Well laid out space, with benches and tables and helpful information boards. Next to the bike racks is a small gray pillar with sockets that are unlocked. Here you could charge your e-bike, provided you have a charger with you.

The mine was created by merging the formerly independent shafts Mariaglück in Höfer and Fallersleben in Habighorst. Mining began in 1914. In the early 1920s, operations were reduced to mining rock salt.

During the Second World War, the mine was also a place of forced labor. It served as a storage facility for salvage from libraries and archives on the floor at a depth of 630 m, particularly in the course of the underground relocation of the project under the NS code name "Lion". It also served as an underground production facility for aircraft parts on the floor at a depth of 710 m. Potash production was stopped in 1969/70 (total production of potash salt 1,900,000 t), in 1977 rock salt production was also stopped (total production of rock salt 11,300,000 t).

In 2001 the operating facilities were dismantled, in particular the head frame was moved on June 30, 2001. In 2006, the flooding of the pit began.
