The village of Stawy is located in Ponidzie, on the Malinówka River, which is a tributary of the Nida River. It owes its name to numerous breeding ponds, stretching over dozens of hectares, which appeared here in the 15th century and functioned until 1955, when, due to the agrarian reform, they became the property of the state and fell into disrepair.
In 2002, Gospodarstwo Rybackie Stawy was established, and with it a new project to rebuild the ponds and restore their splendor.
Already in 2003, the first 17 hectares of ponds are flooded and stocked with king carp. In the next few years, a breeding complex was created, with an area of 27 hectares of water, with a 3-year royal carp breeding process. The breeding was joined by sturgeon, grass carp, zander and pike.
The total area of the farm is 40 hectares, where, apart from ponds, there are 5 hectares of forest, the rest is meadows.
