Halahult's Offerlund
Sacrificial site in Halahult
The ancient sacrificial grove is one of the most remarkable ancient sites in the region and is located in a small grove near Halahult, about 20 kilometers northeast of Karlshamn.
On a natural terrace on a slope is an irregular circle of five massive boulders. Each of the stones contains carved rune marks and indentations. Such as an animal paw print, the imprint of a human sole or a depression that looks like the lower part of a hand mill and other bowl-shaped depressions.
Runes on the stones date back to the 13th and 14th centuries, and according to tradition, sacrifices were even made here in the 17th century. Although it is not believed that this is a sacrificial site from pagan times, it still remains a remarkable cultural and historical site.
