Hall in Tirol Town Hall
The Hall in Tirol Town Hall is considered one of the most important buildings in the town. It is one of the few town halls from the Middle Ages that have largely been preserved and are still used as town halls today.
It is a former "town castle" that was built at the beginning of the 14th century. The western part of the current building has been preserved from this period. In 1453, the building was expanded through a reconstruction. In 1485, the town had five more shops built at the town hall to complement the ten shops for craftsmen and grocers in the moat, which were subsequently leased. An adjacent orchard, which came into the town's possession with the town hall in 1406, served as a market square for the annual fairs.
The town hall had a small room for the town council meetings and a large room for festivities.[1] The beamed ceiling of the council chamber, which is now one of the most popular wedding halls in Tyrol, dates back to 1492. There are coat of arms reliefs on the outer walls of the building.
