The former Gray Nuns Convent, located at number 68 of the Grand-Rue in Thuin, is an imposing building rebuilt thanks to the generosity of Abbot de Lobbes after a fire in 1745. The building may be there. work of the architect Jean-Baptiste Chermanne, prolific in Hainaut and the Namur region at the time. The sisters were responsible for caring for the sick and teaching the young girls. They occupied the convent until 1817. Located on the street front, the Chapel of St. Elizabeth of Hungary was the convent church. Probably erected around the middle of the 18th century, it has a high Baroque facade. If the church and the convent are not protected by a classification despite their undeniable heritage value, this is the case of the organs that were inside. The instrument has since been transported to the Church of Christ the King in the hamlet of Waibes following a donation from the sisters in 1986. Work of organ builder Henri de Volder, it was built in 1854 and has retained its case original in oak and fir. It consists of a facade of lead pipes covered with tin foil. The wind tunnel, box springs and console are also original; this allowed the instrument to join the list of classified organs in Wallonia.
