The Silk Exchange is one of the city's typical old buildings, and also one of the most famous monuments of Civic Gothic that Europe has to offer. On June 4, 1931, the building was declared a National Historical-Artistic Monument and in 1996 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
