The Kick Pruijsbrug bicycle bridge - also known as the Geniedijkbrug - reconnects the Haarlemmermeer engineering dike. An engineer's levee is a dike, usually a water retention dam, commissioned by the engineer and paid for by the Department of War/Defense. This dike had been cut through by the A4.
The steel used uses the rust as a protective layer, which in turn makes it easy to maintain. The support pillars are in the water.
