Peter Mergener

Peter Mergener was born in Heidenburg in 1875 and died in Morbach in 1955. “What makes Heidenburg so special is its beautiful surroundings. There is hardly a place in the whole of the Hunsrück that can boast such magnificent views into the distance as they are offered here. ”From the stories Hunsrück, my home country. His short stories entwine around people in the present and the past, the landscape in which they live, their living conditions in joys and sorrows, special "specimens" of the human species, sometimes serious, but mostly cheerful to eccentric types. Peter Mergener is one of the large group of people from the Hunsrück who were forced to leave due to external circumstances, whose life traced by their profession led them to other regions. But he has not only returned, he has remained close to the home of his childhood and youth throughout his life, mainly through his publications.
