The bridge is used as a single track by the railway. Where the second track used to be, today there is a bicycle lane and a possibility to change from the west to the east side of the Mosel near Konz, either to drive from Trier to the Saar or vice versa.

The bridge was built between 1855 and 1875, destroyed in World War II and then rebuilt between 1946 and 1953. Slightly further down the Moselle in the direction of the hedgehog, there are still parts of the so-called "Hindenburg Bridge", which was originally built to relieve the Konzer Moselle Bridge, also destroyed during the war but not rebuilt. In my opinion, the remains of this bridge are more beautiful and a memorial to worse times, but not so convenient to cross the Moselle.

This is not the view of the mouth of the Saar! It is the bridge for trains, cyclists and pedestrians across the Moselle between Konz and Trier-Zewen (Monaise Castle)! However, the bridge shown is near the mouth of the Saar, a few hundred meters downstream. You can't see the mouth of the Saar in the photo! That's why the title of the photo is wrong! Three bridges span the Saar shortly before its mouth, two of which (one railway and one federal road) are very impressive!
