Today's parish church was built in 1614 with the choir to the east on the tower under Bishop Julius Echter, which was part of the old church.
A fortified church used to stand here with facilities that gave protection to the population in times of war. A piece of the historic wall from the time of the fortified church is behind the memorial plaques on the memorial for the victims of the world wars.
